About Me

Evette M. Hernandez, CNM, MSN, RN is originally from Buffalo, N.Y. and has lived in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area since 2015. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from New York University in 2011, where she graduated at the top of her midwifery cohort, and a Bachelor of Nursing from the University at Buffalo. Evette believes every woman can benefit from the care of a midwife and that midwives are essential to addressing maternal health disparities in the U.S.
Evette is Latina of Puerto Rican heritage and speaks Spanish fluently. Prior to completing her education as a midwife she worked as a registered nurse in oncology and general medicine for seven years. She is a strong proponent of evidence based medicine and social justice and equity in healthcare.
Throughout her career as a midwife, Evette has provided care to women in hospitals, private practice, and community health centers. She has also attended births in a freestanding birth center and at home. Evette provides well-woman exams, prenatal care, antepartum and birth care, postpartum care, and contraception including intrauterine device and implant insertion.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her partner and family, nature, hiking, yoga, dancing, live music, and traveling.
